The library is primarily designed to serve and support students and researchers at the University of Southern Denmark, in the three disciplines: engineering, communication and social science.
It is also a public library, and as such accessible to everybody.
The campus library administrates the loan of books and journals from both its own collections and the other collections of the University Library of Southern Denmark. We also borrow materials from other libraries at home and abroad.
In addition to user guidance and the provision of literature, the library’s work includes the selection, acquisition, classification and cataloguing of books and journals within the campus library’s subject areas. New books and journals are prepared for loan and bound.
The staff carries out tasks within all subject areas and work processes.
Library introduction is organized at the beginning of each semester. These can be arranged for groups continuously throughout the semester. It can be at basic, intermediate or expert level on the use of the Library and its various databases.
A good deal of the library’s stock of books and journals is directly accessible on open shelves so you can fetch the books you want to borrow yourself. (Bibliographies, reference works, special dictionaries, handbooks and certain journals are, however, only for use on the premises).
A part of library is arranged as a 24/7. This means that SDU students and staff can access to books, study places and our self-service machine, where you can pick up the ordered materials 24/7.
There are a few study areas at the library. The library allows for quiet reading / work in the reading rooms, and workstations for individuals and groups.
There is Comfort Zone, if you need a break.
There is a multifunction machine for scanning, printing, photocopying, and 3D printer, so you can make self-service work.
There are a number of computers with Internet access for searching in the library’s catalogue, other library catalogue, databases, journals, etc.
There is Self-Service machine, which is placed in the 24/7 area at the library and allows you to borrow, return or renew books to your account.
